From Insight to Impact: Voices of Rosa Mystica Scholars on the NGLP Experience
For the Rosa Mystica Scholars, joining the Next Generation Leadership Programme (NGLP) was not just about acquiring new competencies—it was the beginning of a deeply personal and professional transformation. Their journey reads like a tapestry of lessons, challenges, and revelation, all woven together by the shared goal of leading for the common good.
“The sessions were so, so interesting and so relevant to our mission. Starting with the principles of management, and being that I’m part of management, for me it was quite relevant.”
From the very first session, the relevance was clear. As one scholar recounted, discovering the foundational principles of management unlocked new ways of working. The previously daunting world of project charters, timelines, and proposal writing became accessible and practical. The sessions didn’t merely impart knowledge—they inspired immediate changes in how scholars approached their roles at work and in service.
Technology, sometimes seen as an intimidating leap, was demystified through NGLP’s focus on IT essentials.
“We had a moment of having some IT essentials. Right now, actually, we’re doing the presentation and one of the aspects I learned during the process I implemented, using the same IT essentials.”
This hands-on empowerment was not simply academic; it reshaped daily workflows and upped the confidence to innovate.
But what truly set the programme apart was its invitation to look inward.
“I liked the introduction. Which kind of a leader am I? Am I a lamb or am I a sheep or am I a lion? How do I operate when I’m in an institution? Am I collaborative, or am I other types of leaders?”
These questions became mirrors—reflecting both strengths and areas for growth. The honest self-reflection sparked by NGLP encouraged these emerging leaders to champion transparency and always seek the greater good.
“As a good leader I need to learn to be transparent. I need to listen and I need to do things for the common good of the people and the organization, not for my own.”
The everyday realities of project management and people leadership came sharply into focus.
“I was able to learn a lot of things—the functions, how to manage, how to run with people, how to cope with people.”
For scholars confronted with HR issues both within institutions and community spaces, new approaches to team dynamics, recruitment, and integration felt transformative.
“HR issues are also very important, especially for me not just in my institution but also in the religious setup.”
Even the often-overlooked challenges of financial management found a place in the NGLP curriculum.
“I’ve learned about financial management—and sometimes when you execute projects, you have mismanagement of funds, or you have an issue where you do not know how to utilize the resources properly. So I’ve learned that a lot.”
Now, these scholars returned to their work better equipped to steward resources and maintain accountability—a shift that will ripple through every project they touch.
As the programme drew to a close, the true measure of its impact echoed in the words of gratitude and hope:
“I have learned how to execute my action plan and how to structure my projects. Yeah, because sometimes we don’t have the proper skills or way of doing things. And so the input by the facilitator has enabled me to know how to execute my plan.”
“I’m happy, and the whole course was so enriching, so educative, so transforming and for that reason I give my gratitudes to the NGLP team, the facilitators, my fellow NGLP scholars.”
The impact of the Next Generation Leadership Programme does not end as the last session closes. It lives on in the new confidence, skills, and vision carried forward by each participant. The Rosa Mystica Scholars move ahead—not just as individuals, but as catalysts for positive change, ready to bring transformation to their organizations and communities.
