Unlocking Leadership Success: Lessons from NGLP’s Effective Management Course
The Next Generation Leadership Programme (NGLP) earlier in the year held its Effective Management course, making a profound impact on the participating scholars. Covering a wide range of essential leadership and management topics, the sessions were directly relevant to the scholars’ roles in their institutions and projects.
Scholars shared their enriching experiences, highlighting key takeaways such as the principles of leadership and management, project management fundamentals, and the importance of communication and financial oversight. One insightful reflection stood out: “As a good leader, I need to learn to be transparent, I need to listen, and I need to do things for the common good of the people and the organization, not for my own.”
Project management was a core focus, with practical lessons on project charters, proposal writing, fundraising, and sticking to timelines. The course also delved into human resource management, which is crucial for those handling growing teams and recruitment. One scholar noted, “HR issues are very important, especially as the office is growing, I require these human resources management skills to integrate with my work.”
Participants expressed gratitude for the transformative and educational nature of the course, appreciating the facilitators’ expertise and the collaborative learning environment fostered by the NGLP team. A key takeaway was shared: “The input by the facilitator has enabled me to be able to execute my plan and structure my projects better.”
Overall, the NGLP Effective Management course has equipped scholars with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration to lead effectively and manage projects confidently impacting their organizations and communities positively.
